Lithuanian Police Free Pole Abducted in Lithuania

A Polish businessmen on a business trip to Lithuania on January 4-5, who was kidnapped for a ransom of EUR 20,000 in that country, has been freed by Lithuanian police, the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau announced on Tuesday.

The Polish Police Central Investigation Bureau (CBS) informed the Lithuanian police about the abducted Pole on January 7. A rescue mission took place on January 8. Two Lithuanians were detained.

The abducted Pole was not hurt. An investigation is ongoing. The two abductors face a jail sentence of three to ten years.
